A 65-year-old Goose Creek man was sentenced to 13 years in prison on Monday for felony DUI after pleading guilty to the DUI charge. South Carolina Highway Patrol Senior Trooper Bridget Wyant said Woodrow Baker Jr., of Goose Creek, was sentenced in connection with a wreck which caused injury to a 25-year-old Ladson woman in late 2011.

According to Wyant, the incident happened on Nov. 25 on College Park Road, when Baker was driving a Dodge van and crossed the center line, striking a female motorist in a 2003 Suzuki head-on. The female victim suffered serious injuries but later recovered. The DUI charge was prosecuted by Ninth Circuit Assistant Solicitor Jennifer Williams. Mr. Baker was represented by the Berkeley County Public Defender's Office.

A driver can be charged with felony DUI when the driver is found driving under the influence and causes death or great bodily injury to another person.
