Police officers in upstate South Carolina arrested and charged an SC man with DUI after they say he was caught driving a lawnmower while intoxicated.
Elliott Conrad, III of Wellford, SC faces a driving under the influence (DUI) charge after police stopped him driving down Highway 29 on a riding lawnmower, according to the Wellford City Police Department.
Video of the traffic stop and DUI investigation filmed from inside the police cruiser was released Wednesday morning and can be seen below.
Police say they first noticed cars flashing head lights and swerving in and out of the right lane of Highway 29. Then officers spotted Conrad slowly driving his lawnmower in the middle of the road.
When officers got behind Conrad and initiated a traffic stop, the driver pulled off to the side of 29 where he stopped. The officer says Conrad smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. Conrad told officers he had left Startex, a small South Carolina community, earlier in the evening and was on his way home to Lyman.
He was arrested, charged with DUI and booked at the Spartanburg County Detention Center by police.
